The Pittsburgh Steelers had been unable to accomplish an amazing comeback against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Minnesota Vikings’ defence denied the Pittsburgh Steelers a touchdown at the last to clinch a thrilling 36-28 victory on Thursday night.

After recovering from a 29-point deficit late in the third quarter, the Steelers seemed to be on the brink of pulled off an amazing comeback when quarterback Ben Roethlisberger found Pat Freiermuth in the end zone with time running out.

Freiermuth, however, was smothered by Vikings defenders and was unable to hold on to the ball, ending in the Steelers’ seventh loss of the season.

When Greg Joseph kicked a 25-yard field goal to extend Minnesota’s advantage to 29 with six minutes left in the third quarter, it was a scenario the Vikings could not have anticipated.

But back-to-back touchdowns by Najee Harris shook Pittsburgh into life, and Roethlisberger got Pittsburgh within nine points with a 30-yard touchdown ball to James Washington.

Although Minnesota found the end zone once again late in the game to give themselves some breathing room, Freiermuth’s 15-yard touchdown reception kept Pittsburgh’s hopes of a remarkable comeback alive down the stretch.
