Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes’s early penalty and Luke Shaw’s goal ended Manchester City’s impressive 21 game winning streak with a 2-0 win at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s side had won 15 straight Premier League games and 21 in all competitions ahead of the game, leaving them 13-points clear at the top of the table.

City had three notable absentees, Sergio Aguero , Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane, with United fans still hoping to see Paul Pogba play by the end of this year.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side moved into second place pushing Leicester to third place and are 11 points behind leaders City.

United have now gone 22 matches unbeaten away from home and it was also the first time they won a league game against the “Big Six” teams this season.

Man Utd got off to a flying start and took the lead thanks to a second-minute penalty from Fernandes, awarded after Gabriel Jesus had fouled Anthony Martial.

United flew out of the traps in the second half, though, with the in-form Luke Shaw finding the bottom corner after a driving run down the left flank and a one-two with Marcus Rashford.

City substituted Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling who missed late equalizer chances for City.

The result narrows City’s lead over United and the rest of the Premier League to 11 points, but more importantly dents the aura of invincibility Pep Guardiola’s side have been carrying with them ahead as they pursue trophies on four fronts.
