Barcelona are ready to end speculation about the future of Lionel Messi, by offering him a staggering 10-year contract.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner’s future has been the talk of the transfer market since he tried to force a move away from a club last summer and intended to utilise a clause in his contract in which he and his representatives claimed allowed Messi to walk away on a free transfer. The Argentine contract expiring this summer and being free agent this summer, the likes of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain had been linked with an audacious move.

According to reports in Spain Messi has decided to continue at Barcelona and will soon sign a new deal with the club until the summer of 2023.

Barcelona’s agreement will span ten years with the Argentine star. The first two years, he will play for Barcelona. The next two, he will play for Inter Miami while simultaneously serving as an “institutional ambassador” for Barcelona. And then, six years not as a player but as an ambassador only.

The signing of his close friend and compatriot Sergio Aguero at Camp Nou for the 2021-22 season, Messi is ready to put pen-to-paper on a long-term deal.
