Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Wales’ Aaron Ramsey helped Juventus to secure a 3-1 victory over 10-man Sassuolo in Serie A on Sunday at Allianz Stadium.

Andrea Pirlo’s men were able to grab a win but they had to work hard for the 3-1 result as the opposition, despite playing with 10 men for the majority of the match, showed persistence and intention.

The first half went scoreless, visitor’s Pedro Obiang was shown the red card after a harsh tackle on Federico Chiesa. The VAR was called into play and after looking at the incident, a red card was shown.

Danilo broke the deadlock and gave the hosts the lead in the 50th minute, but the visitors hit back through Gregoire Defrel.

Ramsey then scored eight minutes from time with Ronaldo also scored in 90+2 minutes to put the final nail in the coffin, scoring his 15th goal of the season.

“Victories are built with everyone’s work and sacrifice, we have already made mistakes too many times,” Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo said.

“After Milan’s win over Torino [on Saturday] we understood that we need maximum concentration and the desire to bring home the victories. We had to continue after the win at the San Siro. It was important to maintain our form.”

Juventus move to fourth-place in the Serie A table. They have 33 points from 17 matches, seven points adrift of league leaders AC Milan.
