Jadon Sancho is edging closer to a £77-million transfer to Manchester United after rejecting an improved contract offer from Borussia Dortmund.
Manchester United are, at long last, nearing a deal for Sancho.
The Times reveal that the 21-year-old was offered a deal on improved terms, which was rejected by Sancho on Wednesday.
United’s latest offer for the 21-year-old was €85 million (about £72.5 million), but the Bundesliga club want €90 million (about £76.9 million) plus performance-based add-ons. Although the deal is imminent, a formal announcement may not be made until Sancho’s participation in Euro 2020 is over.
The 20-year-old will reportedly earn a weekly wage of around £385,000 at Old Trafford if he were to make the move to the Premier League.
Manchester United wanted to sign the England international three times in the past, in 2017, 2019 and 2020, only to miss out every single time.
It is understood United have already agreed personal terms with Sancho, 21.
United chased the player, currently at Euro 2020 with England, last summer but failed to meet Dortmund’s massive £117m demands.
Now, though, it may just be a case of when, rather than if, he signs for the club – and what a huge boost it would be for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
