Burnley’s Premier League fixture against Leicester City on Saturday has been postponed due to a number of Covid-19 cases and injuries in the Clarets’ first team squad.

A league statement said: “The Premier League Board accepted Burnley’s application as the club does not have the required number of players available for the match (13 outfield players and one goalkeeper), due to Covid-19 cases and injuries.”

The current wave of Omicron cases in the United Kingdom has wreaked havoc on the football schedule, requiring numerous games to be postponed.

The date for the rescheduled match has yet to be determined. It’s the fifth time Burnley has had a game postponed this season, including a game against Tottenham in November that was cancelled due to snow. It’s also the fourth time Leicester has had a game postponed this season.
