Leandro Trossard scored as Brighton & Hove Albion beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 for their first home win of the Premier League season.

Brighton controlled the match while Spurs seemed to struggle at stringing together passes. Leandro Trossard finished off a lovely team move to give Brighton a first-half lead with the game’s only goal, giving Brighton a 1-0 lead.

Tottenham, who were without the injured Harry Kane, struggled to create quality chances as they looked to draw even in the first half as Brighton took a one-goal lead into the break.

The home side kept their pressure up in the opening portion of the second half preventing Spurs from getting any semblance of an attack going.

Spurs had a big chance to equalize almost immediately after the substitute as Vinicius held up a pass nicely, making a good turn to fire a shot for the corner. Robert Sanchez, who had very little to do in the match, made his first real save of the night to deny the striker.

Brighton with their second win are on 17th with 21 points, seven clear of 18th-placed Fulham.

Jose Mourinho’s men remain sixth with 33 points and eleven points adrift of Manchester City, alarmingly having won two league wins from nine matches.
