Bangladesh beat Oman by 26 runs to stay alive in the tournament

The contest was on until the last few overs before Bangladesh concluded Oman’s innings to 127 and winning the match by 26 runs. Shakib Al Hasan was awarded man of the match for taking 3 and scoring 42 runs for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh batting first scored 153 runs for 10 wickets in 20 overs.

Bangladesh came into the march with immense pressure as they had lost their first match to making it a must win match for them.

Bangladesh decided to bat first and were in trouble after losing 2 quick wickets in first 5 overs. Bangladesh were 2 down for 21, but Shakib’s experience and Naim’s flashy shots helped Bangladesh to have a 80 run stand for third wicket.

It was third delivery of 14th over when Shakib tried to take a quick single but a direct hit
from Aqib Ilyas concluded the innings for Shakib Al Hasan.

Oman were desperate to get a break the partnership got next 7 wickets in next 6 overs but Bangladesh had managed to get a defendable total of 153 runs before losing 10 wickets in 20 overs.

Oman were confident from the batting performance of their first match, defeating PNG by 10 wickets but lost their opening batter Aqib Ilyas in the second over. Jatinder Singh and Prajapati looked promising to take the game deep but the latter trying to play the cover drive edged the ball and delivered it straight in the gloves of Nurul Hasan.

Captain Zeeshan Maqsood had a slow start to his innings and was looking determined to stand long with Jatinder Singh but could not add more than a stand off 34 runs between both of them.

Oman was still in the game with Jatinder batting handsomely but after Shakib got Jatinder at deep backward square leg, Oman’s innings hit a brake in scoring runs and loosing wickets.

Oman could only manage to get 127 runs in 20 overs loosing the match by 26 runs.

Bangladesh will next play Papua New Guinea and Oman will play Scotland on October 21.
