Delhi Capital’s Shimron Hetmyer hit a 18 ball 28 against CSK at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, to reach at the top of the table with 20 points and one more match to go.

CSK who were asked to bat first scored 136 for 5 in 20 overs. Faf Du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad probably the best opening pair of IPL 2021 were asked to take crease as DC won the toss and opted to bowl.

CSK was not able to get much out of their opening batters in this match as Anrich Nortje and Axar Patel took wickets of both the openers.

Robin Uthappa who came into the team for Suresh Raina scored a 19 ball 19 but was caughtand bowled of Ashwin’s carrom ball. This was the match where CSK’s middle order came into test and Ambati Raydu and MS Dhoni put 70 runs for the 5th wicket.

Ambati Raydu remained the highest scorer for his team hitting 55 of 43, including 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Pitch behaved like a double paced, as in the match some balls did not come to the bat
nicely and some of them skidded through batters bat.

Delhi Capitals chasing 136 lost Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer early in the powerplay, but Shikhar Dhawan’s attacking game made sure Delhi Capitals were in a stronger position as the scorecard stood at 51 for 2 after powerplay.

Shikhar Dhawan added 20 more runs with Rishabh Pant before Rishabh got out on hitting a slog sweep in Jadeja’s over.

With Delhi Capitals long batting lineup and Shikhar Dhawan still being present over the pitch, it seemed like Delhi would get it through, but then came Shardul Thakur’s magical over. He bowled Ravi Ashwin right on the first ball and later Dhawan was given out on the third ball as well, but Dhawan was pretty sure he did not edge the ball and used the DRS to get the decision in his favor.

When the dramatic over wasn’t over, Thakur got Dhawan on the last ball of the
over at extra cover, and CSK was on the top of the match for the first time.

Shirmon Hetmyer and Axar Patel were struggling to hit the ball on the double paced pitch, and CSK capitalized on it, when Dwayne Bravo almost got Hetmyer on the 3rd ball of the 18th over.

But Krishnappa Gowtham who came in as substitute player had the worst nightmare of his by dropping Hetmyer and the ball went to the boundary for four.

Josh Hazelwood was pretty accurate in bowling the tricky lengths and made Delhi Capitals to feel the pressure but the six on fourth ball of the 19th overturned the cards into Delhi Capitals favor.

Rabada who came into bat after Axar’s wicket in the last over hit the winning runs on the
4th ball of the last over.

Delhi Capitals are now at the top of the table
