Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets now a fair chance to get qualified for playoffs

While chasing 91, Mumbai Indians chased down the target in 8.2 overs, with Ishan Kishan hitting 50 of 25. Nathan Coulter Nile was awarded Man of the match for his figures of 4 for 14 in four overs.

It was a slow Sharjah pitch which have earlier posted problems for the teams while batting. Rajasthan who chased 190 in 17.2 overs against CSK at Abu Dhabi could not adjust to Sharjah’s conditions and lost kept losing their wickets and could only post a total of 90 in 20 overs.

Nathan Coulter first tricked Yashasvi Jaiswal with his pace variations and then Jasprit Bumrah tricked Lewis with the bounce on the pitch. Rajasthan could not build a single partnership and thus posted the lowest total by any team in Sharjah this year.

Nathan Coulter Nile took 4 wickets and James Neesham who came in for Quinton De Kock took 3 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah also took 2 wickets.

Mumbai Indians keen to improve their run rate targeted RR bowlers and made sure they have a huge boost to their net run rate finishing this match. Ishan KIshan who had a rough patch in UAE leg of the IPL came in to open with Rohit Sharma and smashed all the bowlers hitting pull shots on leg side to cover drives on off side.

With 4 teams fighting for fourth spot, Net run rate is extremely important and finishing the game in 8.2 overs give Mumbai a fair chance to get qualified for playoffs.

Mumbai will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad to play their last league match.
