Kolkata Knight Riders defeats Royal Challengers Bangalore by 4 wickets in the eliminator at Sharjah Cricket Stadium

Knight Riders were chasing a total of 139 to march their way towards qualifier 2 against Delhi Capitals. Sunil Narine who picked 4 wickets for 21 runs and scored 26 runs off 15 balls was named as the man of the match.

Daniel Christian jams a yorker on the pitch, Shakib Al Hasan defends it to take a single, and that’s the end of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2021.

Captain Virat Kohli who has decided to give up his of captaincy after this season has to end it without an IPL trophy in his bag. A score of 138 which looked below par on this Sharjah pitch did not seem to be at one point when Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal began exploiting the pitch to halt the scoring run rate of Kolkata Knight Riders.

In the run chase of 139, KKR were comfortable at 40 for no loss after 5 overs, before Harshal Patel got rid of Shubhman Gill, following by the over of Yuzvendra Chahal to get Rahul Tripathi. Ray of hope could have been seen in the RCB dugout as these were those middle overs where RCB lost their momentum of scoring runs while batting and KKR had too been on the same path.

Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer were batting and these were those runs that could take the match away from RCB but who knew the real game-changer would be the same bowler who took caps of Kohli, Maxwell, Bharat, and AB de Villiers while bowling. Sunil Narine was sent to batting after the 3rd wicket and did exactly what he was sent for. Smashed Daniel Christian for 3 sixes in an over and in a low-scoring match, which proved out to be the real match-winning knock. It was less than run a ball after that over for KKR.

Mohammed Siraj took wickets of Sunil Narine and Dinesh Kartik but it was too late for RCB to et those wickets, Skipper Eoin Morgan and Shakib Al Hasan got their heads down and displaying their virtues of experience and got the winning runs with 2 balls to spare.

This was the end for RCB in IPL 2021 and KKR made its way through Qualifier 2. KKR will now play against DC and the winner will face CSK in the finals.
