Kolkata Knight Riders playing to make sure they qualify for playoffs defeated Sunrisers
Hyderabad by 6 wickets at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Shubman Gill scoring 57 of 51 balls made sure that Knights chase for 116 runs do not fall short.

The match began with Jason Roy and Wridhiman Saha taking the crease as SRH captain Kane Williamson decided to bat first. Right from the first ball SRH’s batting displayed instability when Jason Roy got stuck of his flick shot and mishit it onto the long-on. It did not take a while for Saha to get out on the golden duck on the second ball of the match.

It was a slow and tacky start from SRH, where despite Williamson hitting 4 fours in the final of the powerplay scorecard stood at 35 for 2. It was unfortunate for Williamson to get run out in the seventh over, and hopes for Sunrisers posting a good total after winning the toss was shattered as the middle order of SRH did not possess enough experience.

Abdul Samad exhibited his capability of hitting flourishing sixes in the death overs but eventually got out while hitting a high elbowed low punch to long-on. SRH score stood on 115 for 8 after 20 overs.

It was a decent start to the second innings unless Umran Malik making his IPL debut from SRH started clocking deliveries more than 140kph. This left the commentators in a woo for the pacer. Third delivery of the over which clocked 150kph was the fastest by any Indian in this season of IPL.

Gill and Iyer, the opening batters for KKR were scoring at required run rate before Holder got rid of Iyer bowling a shorter one to him. Rahul Tripathi who came to bat at number 3 also departed soon on Rashid Khan’s googly.

A couple of quick wickets did put KKR into a tricky position, as Nitish Rana also had some hard time on the pitch, but Shubhman Gill kept his head calm and took the pressure off Nitish Rana.

Shubhman Gill got out in the 17th over but had put KKR in the position from where it would have needed a miracle to lose the game for them. Kartik who came to bat after Gill hit the winning runs on the 4th ball of the final over, and ensured 2 points for his team.

Kolkata Knight Riders now have 12 points and stand at 4th position at the Points table. SRH with 4 points is still at position 8.
