SunRisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab will both lost their previous matches,
SunRisers Hyderabad(SRH) do not seem to be able to keep their momentum going in IPL 2020. They are among three teams with three losses out of five matches, and are just not being to string the wins together. A top-heavy batting line-up, SRH have been let down by their opening duo – Jonny Bairstow and David Warner. While expecting a whirlwind start from them every game was always going to be too much to ask, they have been underpar with the bat this year. They have the lowest strike-rate amongst the 14 batsmen who have faced over 50 balls in the Powerplay this season. It is uncharacteristic of them who were striking at 164.1 last season to amass 791 runs.
Kings XI Punjab(KXIP ),on the other hand, have only one win out of five games, which is mystifying, given their batting credentials. After the lost by 10 wicket KXIP team must be hurting at the humiliation. It is not often that a team loses by 10 wickets in a T20 match.
KL Rahul leads the pack in the race of the Orange Cap, while Mayank Agarwal is also right up there. Where the Punjab team is being shown out is in the bowling department, since, in spite of having Mohammad Shami in the Purple Cap line-up, the rest are just not up to scratch.
One good thing is we can only go up, that’s how we look at it,” told Kumble in an exclusive interview with Cricketnmore.
The head coach Anil Kumble further said that they will be looking one game at a time and not look too far ahead.
“It’s a nine-game tournament for us, we need to take one game at a time, not look too far ahead, we are very confident with our preparation, the way we have gone about,” felt the head coach.Addressing the loss versus Chennai Super Kings, former Indian leg spinner observed that Nicholas Pooran getting back into form is one of the few positives from the game.
“There are few positives as well coming out from the last game, Pooran getting into form and batted really well, Rahul and Mayank again showed us the importance of powerplay and how to get off to a good start,” observed Anil Kumble
Both sides are in a pretty similar position right now. They are yet to work out their best combination. KXIP have struggled to field their best XI out of the squad they built in the auction. SRH, on the other hand, have been hit with injuries to Mitchell Marsh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. In a similar vein, the two sides have issues in both batting and bowling departments.
