In a virtual knockout game between India and New Zealand, Indian fans were very excited to see their team giving a tough fight, but it was a comprehensive win for New Zealand to strengthen their bid to qualify for the semi-finals.

It was another disappointing performance from Indian batting to only get 110 runs in 20 overs. Indian team after losing this match is almost knocked out of the T20 tournament.

Dubai International Stadium, where most of the time chasing is considered to give an edge in the match, New Zealand opted to chase at this venue, and the streak for losing tosses by Virat Kohli continued.

Start for the Indian team was no different to what they had against Pakistan, as Ishan Kishan who opened the innings in place of Rohit Sharma departed after scoring 4 off 8 balls. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma also got out after scoring 18 and 14 runs.

Virat Kohli who is known for rotating strikes and keep clocking runs onboard was far away from sight in this match and succumbed to pressure while trying to clear the ball over long-on after getting 9 runs off 17 balls.

This was another masterclass bowling from Ish Sodhi to trap Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to attempt big shots. Hopes on Hardik Pandya as he has been backed by the team again went without getting fulfilled as he got out while trying to clear the ball over long-of.

Ravindra Jadeja did strike a couple of balls to get some runs, in the end, it was too late for the team. Ravindra Jadeja remained the highest run-scorer for the team, he got 26 off 19 balls.

Indian bowlers took the field, but defending 110 runs was equal to a miracle task. Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy was not the mystery in the world cup and was not able to strike once in the 2 matches. JaspritBumrah was the only bowler to get 2 wickets in the match, but those 2 wickets were not enough or anywhere close to creating pressure on New Zealand batting.

Dary Mitchell got 49 off 35 balls and Kane Williamson, known to finish games for his team in such chase did not disappoint and ensured New Zealand their first victory of the tournament. New Zealand chased the total in 14.3 overs. Ish Sodhi for his bowling performance was given the man of the match award.

New Zealand after winning this match is the favourites to qualify for the semi-finals with Pakistan from Group 2.
